A Virtuous Woman
A Virtuous Woman
“Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.”(Proverbs
31:10).
The word virtuous is an adjective describing a person that conforms to moral and ethical principles; a person who is morally excellent and upright. To be referred to as being a virtuous woman, would be considered to be an honor. In Proverbs 31:30 says, “Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.” This is a virtuous woman. A woman that fears the Lord, will live her life according to the word of God.
A virtuous woman is a good help meet to her husband. This means, she makes sure he and their children are well taken care of. She does what she can to assist her husband, even if that means helping out with the finances. This woman knows what is expected of her as a wife in the eyes of God, hence making her a blessing unto her husband. She speaks with wisdom, and use words that are kind. “Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.” (Proverbs 31:28).
I encourage every woman to read the entire chapter of Proverbs 31, it is a good foundation for women to learn from. It is not so much as what is expected of man, but it is what’s expected of God. As women of God, we have to learn that our husbands are the head of our households, and we need to know our role as a good wife, as a virtuous woman of God. We should not exert authority over our husbands. The word of God says that we are “to be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.” (Titus 2:5).
My prayer for today, Father God, let us be the women that you have called and ordained us to be. That we may be obedient to you word, and be that virtuous woman who lives according to your ways and not our own. Lord I thank you for giving us instructions on how we should live our lives and being successful in all that you have enabled us to do. Father I thank you for the virtue that you have placed in each and every one of us in Jesus name, Amen!
