Be Ye Separate

“Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man’s sake. Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward is great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets.”  (Luke 6:22-23).

The word blessed means to be happy.  So we are to be happy when the religious minded separates us from their company.  They shall reproach you, meaning they will find fault in you; they will try to make you appear to look evil, by becoming a tale bearer.  A tale bearer is basically a person that gossips, and speak of things that are not necessarily true.  He says to rejoice…be joyful, for your reward is great in heaven.  These things that we see today is not new, these things were done to the Prophets also.  So when we consider the things we must often go through, we should praise God with a happy heart, for we know that because we stood in the midst of it all, our reward shall be great in heaven.  What a reason to rejoice!

Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.”  (2 Corinthians 6:17).  So when we are separated from the things of this world, he says he will receive us, and he says we are His sons and daughters.  “Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.”  (2 Corinthians 7:1). Now when we are shunned or made to feel left out or even talked about, let us be joyful, to be not a part of the religious minded, but instead to be called a son and daughter of the Lord.

My prayer today, father let us always be of a cheerful heart, serving you willingly at all times.  Give us the strength to separate ourselves from all things that are unclean, and when those that are not of you cast us aside, let us not be heavy, but in prayer that you will reveal your truth to them also.  That they too may become Your sons and daughters perfecting holiness in the fear of God, in Jesus name I pray, Amen.
