Rest in Him

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 21:11). To come unto Him when we have realized that every other way did not work. To come to the realization that the things of the world has not only left us exhausted, but has left us empty. We have labored and labored in the things that are pertaining to the world, yet at the end of the day we are left spent and somehow feeling unfulfilled on the inside. For all of our works were in vain, all of our works were dead works.

For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. (James 2:26).

Then there comes this moment, a plea from Jesus Christ, that says come unto me; I will give you rest. At the end of the day you will fill content, for you have chosen this day to do His will. When we come to comprehend that the works we do according to God’s will instead of our own, leaves us in a place on peace, a place of contentment that can only come from God. What a wonderful God we serve, not only does He gives us rest from all the heaviness, He also makes provisions for us; but we must be watchful as well as prayerful.

And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:7).

It is such a joy to serve the Lord and be obedient to Him. Not only does it make for a restful night’s sleep, you will find that you will develop a greater desire to be in His presence more and more. You start to see beyond yourself and the things that you have always desired for yourself, and become more focused on God’s will for your life. Your desires becomes His desires, your will becomes His will. You only desire to do what it is that He has purposed for your life. For your sole desire becomes to live a life that is pleasing unto Him. You are sold out to Him and resting in Him, and realize there is no other place you would rather be. In His presence…resting….. Life is good 🙂

But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provisions for the flesh, to fulfil the lust thereof. (Romans 13:14).

Lord Jesus, I come before you in humbleness. I ask you to give us a heart of repentance, forgive us for our sins, and turn us away from the things of the world and every form of wickedness. Let us come into your presence in such a way that we may cast all our cares upon you, for we know that your Word is true and that you do indeed care for us. I ask this all in the name above all names, the name of Jesus Christ, amen!
