Courage
Merriam Webster dictionary defines courage as mental or moral strength to venture, persevere, and withstand danger, fear or difficulty. It sounds like facing, overcoming or standing against something that you thought you either could not face, withstand or get pass…but then we realize there is always a way out of no way. Isaiah 43:16-19 say it well… “Thus saith the Lord, which maketh a way in the sea, and a path in the mighty waters; which bringeth forth the chariot and horse, the army and the power; they shall lie down together, they shall not rise: they are extinct, they are quenched as tow. Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert. Courage is fed on faith!
In order for us to practice true courage, we must first have faith. Faith, the substance of things hoped for the evidence of things not seen; without it we will never have the courage to face any of our fears. So we look at courage, and there are two hurdles that one must cross, fear which must be defeated and faith with must be obtained. Once we defeat fear, true faith becomes obtainable. Now we must take note of every obstacle that has been blocking us from our freedom to truly live. We can now face them, overcome them and have the strength to stand even when it seems like it is unwilling to let us go. The Word of God reads; “We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair. (2 Corinthians 4:8) All we have to do is stand and have faith that even though it may not seem like victory is near, we know that He is near; and if He is near then victory is indeed near as well.
Courage is the force behind you reaching all your dreams; but we must have that foundation. The foundation is the Cross. It is written in the book of Luke, Chapter 9 verse 23. Jesus spoke to his disciples saying, “If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. If we were to deny fear access in our lives and simply follow our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, we will be free. Free of every form of bondage and we will have the courage to live the life that we know we were created for. What a beautiful life it will be; free of not only fear, but every other hindrance the enemy may try to place in our way. We know that we will overcome because Christ overcame and defeated the enemy for us all at the Cross. So be encouraged beloved, we win, because Jesus already won… Amen!
These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
