Be Not Partakers

Ephesians 5: 6-7

Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.  Be not ye therefore partakers with them.

Let no man flatter you with their tongue, with false teaching or doctrines.  At some time in our lives we may have been a witness to this sort of behavior.  People may have many different motives; it could be for control, or even just for vanity purposes.  “If I exalt Pastor continually, maybe he’ll let me preach next Sunday or if I continue to stroke Sister Sue’s (fictional) ego, maybe she’ll let me lead the praise team.”  Vain words are used often for the sole purpose to manipulate people.  This sort of behavior is not of God, and it says that those who use vain words, brings upon the wrath of God. Let us remember the wrath comes with his judgment…which is much greater and mightier than anything that man can execute.

Now the key to knowing when you are being deceived is by studying the word and developing an intimate relationship with God.  He calls the users of vain words children of disobedience; and commands that we be not partakers with them.  Meaning whenever you are within the company of this sort of spirit, you should know well enough to flee from the very presence of it.  This spirit will try to lure us in by simply using crafty words.  We must be on guard at all times, for if we are not careful, we will find ourselves becoming one of the deceived.  Developing an intimate relationship is easy when you have an active prayer life.  We must make time to study the word of God, as well as seek His presence in prayer and fasting.  God would prefer not to have to bring wrath upon any of us, so let us use wisdom by avoiding any man or woman who are speakers of vain words.

My prayer today, Father let us remain close to you at all times, that we are not deceived by the tricks of the enemy that uses vain words.  Let us always be on guard, and continue to study your word so that we shall know your words and not be partakers with them who are children of disobedience; in Jesus name, amen
