A Good Soldier

A Good Soldier

“No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.”  (2 Timothy 2:4).

This scripture is telling us that when we are called by God, we will go through many battles.  While we are going through these battles, we should not concern ourselves with pleasing man, but with pleasing God!  In order to please God we must learn to walk in Faith.  “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”  (Hebrews 11:6).  As good soldiers we should be able to walk in Faith, knowing that God is with us.  No matter what the circumstance may look like, we will know that if God has chosen us to do it, he will see us through it.

Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.”  (Ephesians 6:13-18).

Here we receive instructions on how to protect ourselves as we go out to do battle.  God has given us armour to cover us.  There is no greater armour that that of our Lord.  This armor cannot be penetrated.  It will protect us from all harm, if we believe.  The word of God says that “Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.” (Mark 11:24).

As good soldiers we must always desire to please God, and by desiring to please God, he will protect us and keep us.  Our faith in Him must be secure, because we know that without Faith, we are not able to please God.  He has given us instructions on how to put on our armor daily, so that no part of us would be left uncovered. Knowing this, we can now go out with boldness and take back what the enemy thought he has stolen from us.

Father God, I come before you believing that we shall always be good soldiers.  That we will continue to have a desire to that which is pleasing to you, and will walk in faith knowing that your armour cannot and will not be penetrated. And when we stand before you in prayer, that we will believe in Faith as a grain of a mustard seed, that that which we have asked of you will be done, in Jesus name I pray amen!
